Team Camp FAQs
How much money should be brought?
Campers wanting to purchase merchandise (shirts, shorts, etc.) should bring money for these items. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided daily, but wrestlers will have the option to buy food and drinks at night. Please plan ahead and send a limited amount of money with your wrestler to avoid any problems.
What happens if a wrestler becomes injured or ill during camp?
At all wrestling sessions there are student medical trainers on-hand to administer immediate medical attention. Also, if your wrestler becomes seriously injured or sick during camp, the Alliance Hospital is less than one mile from campus. If your wrestler becomes ill and has to leave camp early, you will be refunded the prorated amount based on how long the camper was at camp.
What type of payment do you accept?
All payments must be made prior to check-in. We will accept personal checks or certified checks through the mail. We can take credit cards through our online registration.
If a camper drives, what happens with their car and car keys?
Wrestlers are allowed to leave their cars parked on campus. The camp director will keep car keys locked up for the entire week. When the campers are ready to leave, their keys will be returned to them.
Can parents come to watch?
All sessions are open to the parents, coaches, and friends of the participating wrestlers. Spectators are welcome to sit matside during both technique and competition sessions, and video cameras are permitted.
Why should I attend the team camp?
Our team camp is different than most. We put teams in a training environment during the week and finish the camp off with two straight days of dual meets. With the weekend duals, a large number of teams will be competing that are not at camp during the week, providing teams with lots of new competition.
Our team will not be attending, but my child wants to attend the camp. Are unattached wrestlers permitted?
Yes. Unattached wrestlers will either be used to fill in holes on other teams lineups or they will be put together on “All Star” teams coached by camp counselors.
What is the difference between the Team Camp and the High School Competition Camp?
These are essentially the same camp, with two different options. Campers who participate in the Team Camp will train and compete Tuesday-Thursday with other teams at the Team Camp. On Friday and Saturday, the Team Campers will join in on the High School Competition Camp and participate in two days of dual meets.
What type of technique will be taught during technique sessions?
Our focus is not on “clinic moves.” We focus on improving your basic skills and teaching the proper way to drill. We teach a number of technique series that will work at all levels of competition.
Where will campers eat and sleep?
Campers will stay on campus in one of the college resident halls. Three meals will be provided daily.
What will a typical day be like?
